The armor chest I made isn't really complete unless I have a way to secure the top which has simple hasp closures. Not that I distrust my varlots, but
they are not always present to watch my goods, and also items get jostled around on the luggage carts on campaign. So a way to secure the top seems necessary.
As inspiration, I am using some 15th century illustrations of what appear to be barrel padlocks in the Speculum Humanae Salvationes (BNE B. 19), c. 1420-1440 The barrel/body of the lock is made from some very thick walled structural tubing (.125"), the ends are 1/8" flat stock and the pin is 3/16" cold rolled steel. Material: Steel Dimensions: 2.75"w x 2"h x 1."d Weight: 5.7 oz. |
